Delete your account
Immediate and permanent
GritCore accounts can be deleted from inside the app, or by asking us here. Either way the deletion is immediate and permanent, and you do not need to keep the app installed to request one.
Delete it yourself, in the app
Open GritCore and go to Me → Account → Delete my account. You will be asked to type a confirmation word, because this cannot be undone.
Ask us to delete it, without the app
If you have uninstalled GritCore, or cannot sign in, email gritcore.support@gmail.com with the subject Delete my account.
Send the request from the email address on the account. That is how we confirm the request is really yours. If you signed in with Google, use that Google address.
Requests are actioned within 30 days, and in practice much sooner. You will get a confirmation once it is done.
What gets deleted
- Your account and sign-in credentials
- Your profile: display name, username, bio, country, avatar, date of birth, gender
- Every claim you made, and the evidence attached to it
- Endorsements you gave, and the people you follow
- Your badges and your leaderboard positions
- Your push notification token and notification preferences
All of it is removed from the live database at once. Backups held by our hosting provider are retained for a limited period and then overwritten.
What does not get deleted, and why
Ultras you created stay in the app, without your name attached.
This is the one exception, and it is deliberate. Other people have claimed those ultras and had their claims verified. Deleting the ultra would destroy their achievements along with yours. So the ultra remains, and the link back to you is removed.
If you need an ultra you created taken down entirely, say so in your email and we will look at it case by case.
Sentences typed into the rarity estimator are stored without any link to the account that typed them, so there is nothing connecting them to you and nothing to find when your account is deleted. They stay as cached answers. If you typed something you want removed, tell us what it was and we will delete that entry.
Nothing is kept for marketing
There is no advertising in GritCore, no analytics SDK, and no mailing list. Deleting your account does not leave you on a list somewhere, because there is no list.
